PRESS
RELEASE
(July 8, 2016, Tualatin, Oregon.) The art association
formerly known as WOMEN OF WATERCOLOR—GUILD OF ARTISTS has changed its name to
WILD OVER WATERCOLOR—WOW! as of July 2016. The move came as a unanimous
decision by the membership of this art group to be more inclusive in its name.
While the group was previously open to male and female members alike, the new
name is more encouraging of broader membership in the local art community.
Founded almost exactly seven years ago in July, 2009 by seven
artists who met at an art retreat, WOW has grown in membership from a small
group of watercolorist to at its height at over 50 members. Currently the
membership is approximately 30 artists from emerging to award winning and
nationally recognized for their work.
The membership encourages the development of all its artists on a
creative, technical, and career level while maintaining an environment that is
cooperative and friendly.
WOW offers group painting sessions (GPS) often twice monthly
at the Tualatin Heritage Center and also offers teachi learning opportunities
that extend beyond its membership. WOW artists participate in art shows
locally, regionally, and nationally. The group is run by volunteers and
directed by a Board of elected officers.
